I didn’t know I loved the birds soaring
through the sky.

I didn’t know I loved the smell of the rain
or fresh cut grass.

I didn’t know I loved the way my mom
looks at me or the smell
of her perfume.

I know I can’t turn back the clock,
but I wish I could.

I didn’t know I loved the way my husband
smells when he comes home
from work.

I didn’t know I loved the sound of my son’s
laughter or the look in his eyes
when I hold him close.

I didn’t know I loved my daughter’s
butterfly kisses as I tuck
her into bed at night.

I took my life for granted, and now
I miss the little things…

I didn’t know I loved the beautiful
moon flowers, and how they
open up at night to say hello.

I didn’t know I loved running barefoot
on the rocks.

I didn’t know I loved the lightning
and sitting on the porch with all
my animals as the rain falls.

I didn’t know I loved pigs, chickens, goats,
horses, and cows.

I didn’t know I loved being a small town
country girl.

I can’t turn back the clock, but
I wish I could…
